I have never had a great skincare routine. Due to my genetic makeup, I tan beautifully and easily, and I hold those tans for long months. It’s hard not to worship the sun. But, as we established in my recent post (“Old”), I’m not getting any younger. The tiny sunspots have bled into larger sunspots, and the wrinkles are establishing permanent residence (despite the Botox–which is expensive and frivolous; cue the guilt. Also, I firmly believe in beauty in all shapes and forms. I just also believe in that tiny little syringe. Perhaps a post for another day…)
When I decided to “get sober” (aka stop purging), I decided I would also start taking amazing, loving, intense care of my skin. Even on those nights when I really don’t feel like it (every. single. night), I have committed to doing something nice for my skin. So, cleansing and moisturizing. Sometimes I’ll add a serum or retinol overnight cream (I know, my nights are super exciting)!
So, I’m over a month and a half into this new skincare regimen, and I have to say, my skin is definitely happier. I also stopped buying Rodan + Fields from my sister-in-law out of obligation and actually researched what products I wanted to use, and I have to say, I am happier.
Day 44.
