The Best

As a planner and perfectionist, I tend to look forward to the future. I plan for things and anticipate and actively change the things I can to better the days to come. As I approach 40 this summer, I’ve been reflecting on life and how I live it.

I’m realizing that THIS present moment may be the best it gets. I’ve got a pretty great, stable life, filled with love and laughter, and these might be the halcyon days I look back upon when I’m older. I’m challenging myself to be really, fully present in the here-and-now without always looking forward to something better. This might just be it.

Day 111.

I’m a college professor, wife, and mother of 2 small kids. I’m on a recovery journey 20 years in the making.
