Better

Sometimes, I just sit in awe of all that I have and how very, very blessed I am in this life. I have a hard time sitting in gratitude and contentment, but sometimes I am startled by the beauty in my life.

A few days ago, my kids watched one of their favorite episodes of Bluey, which is just the cutest show on TV. My husband and I will even occasionally grab a seat and watch a few of these short, pithy 7-minute episodes with the kids. Lots of warm, fuzzy feelings and sweet messages. Anyhow, the episode features Holst’s “Jupiter” from The Planets, and later that night, my son requested the same of Alexa. Yesterday, the kids were humming and singing it in the backseat, and I felt this wash of emotion–joy and gratitude and pure happiness. That song was played (as a hymn with the text “Oh God, Beyond all Praising”) at our wedding. Some 10 years ago, we never, ever would have imagined these two perfect little people sitting in the car singing that same tune. Crazy.

Day 125.
